CALIGULA by Albert Camus Nothing in this world, nothing in the next one, to my measure.

Synopsis

Caligula, a relatively kind prince until the death of his sister and lover Drusilla, comes to the realisation that “people die, and they are not happy”. As a result, he passionately seeks for the Impossible and, poisoned by the feeling of contempt and horror, he tries throught killing and twisting all values, a freedom which at the end he realises is futile.
